Global Information System (GIS)
The CHP team are utilising Global
Information System (GIS) technology in management planning. Working
in collaboration with the government’s Physical Planning Unit
and other partners, the team will fully integrate all new data with
existing systems so that other interested agencies may benefit as
well. GIS provides layers of information about the environment.
This can be both scientific information (e.g.,
vegetation maps, spring locations, oriole nesting sites) as well
as social data (e.g., land ownership, farms, hiking trails).
This information can be combined to give decision
makers a clearer visual appreciation of Centre Hills resources and
potential conflicts arising from their use.
